Vista & Kvartetten – Hyllie, Malmö

Vista and Kvartetten are owned and managed by Wihlborgs Fastigheter. Located in Hyllie, Malmö, the two properties are situated just a few hundred metres apart in one of the region’s fastest-growing business districts.

Vista comprises approximately 17,000 m² of lettable area, primarily office space, a four-storey parking garage and a ground-floor restaurant. Kvartetten offers approximately 15,000 m² of lettable area, including office space, underground parking and the restaurant Spill at street level. Both properties place high demands on the quality and availability of their technical infrastructure, particularly when it comes to reliable mobile connectivity for tenants, visitors and facility management staff.

The Challenge

Kvartetten was initially designed with a passive antenna network fed by repeaters. However, once the building was occupied, it became clear that capacity requirements were significantly higher than originally anticipated.

Hyllie is a rapidly growing area with a high concentration of workplaces, placing considerable demands on mobile networks. In Kvartetten, the incoming donor signals were unable to fully meet user demand, an experience that helped shape a more robust solution for Vista.

The Solution

For Kvartetten, MIC Nordic designed a dense antenna network consisting of approximately 80 antennas, initially fed by repeaters connected to rooftop donor antennas. For Vista, a more comprehensive solution was developed, featuring approximately 130 antennas distributed across three sectors and supplied directly by mobile operator infrastructure.

The key to the project's success was a shared strategy for both properties. Due to their close proximity, MIC Nordic proposed a common base station solution, where baseband resources were shared between the buildings while dedicated RRUs were deployed within each property's antenna network.

The Result

This coordinated approach delivered several clear benefits:

• Lower investment costs compared to two separate systems
• Reduced space requirements within each property
• Improved user experience with high-capacity coverage for thousands of users
• Future-proof scalability to support growing demands over time

MIC Nordic was also entrusted with procuring the operator equipment on behalf of Wihlborgs, ensuring a smooth process and a complete turnkey solution from design through to commissioning.

The Vista and Kvartetten project clearly demonstrates how strategic system design and coordination between neighbouring properties can create both technical and financial advantages. MIC Nordic is proud to have delivered a solution that combines high capacity, cost efficiency and reliable mobile connectivity, creating long-term value for both tenants and property owners in one of Malmö’s most dynamic business districts.
